I am Sandali Sinha, I have known Meera since we were 18. I have been with her through all the travesties of life and I have to admit- I do not believe a stronger person exists.
Hi this is Sandali and I was asked the question of who’s Meera Kaul and I was asked to make in a 30 second clip, but that quite difficult but I’ll try. So here goes really fast.
Meera Kaul is my friend for the last 25 years which is more than half our lives so that pretty much makes an authority of who and what she is. She is an extra-ordinary girl, there’s nothing mediocre about her, there’s nothing simple about her, she either is really really high up there or life just throws her down and then she rises from there.
In all her high she’s built businesses and brands that people are really envious of. She has forged friendships and she has had family member who would die for her, give an arm and leg for her, she’s travelled the world, she’s eaten in the finest restaurants, she’s had adventures that most people dream of, that’s quite a bit in a lifetime if you’re so young.
And when I say the lowest lows, she’s a 17-year-old Kashmiri refugee girl who left Srinagar with nothing, just hoping that her family would follow her, and they won’t be killed in the bargain. She’s been through some troublesome marriages if I can put it like that, but that’s not really brought her down, she’s had people who’ve backstabbed her, she’s had people who’ve tried to pull her down, she’s had people who’ve let down her trust and really really really made her cry. But has that got her down? No, not at all. She’s had illnesses that could prove fatal for anybody else. Has she come out of it? Oh yeah, and she’s much stronger now.
So, Meera, for me is still that simple 17 year old golden eyed bright beautiful Kashmiri girl who I saw the first day and she just couldn’t stop smiling, I could not wipe that smile off her face no matter what, she’s still the same girl, you cannot wipe that smile off her face world, no matter what you do, and that’s beautiful ,that’s my beautiful friend, Meera Kaul.
